Man Charged with ‘Horrific’ Murder of Kevin Conway in West Belfast

BELFAST, Northern Ireland – A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 26-year-old Kevin Conway, who was shot and killed near his home.

The victim, who was described as a father, son, and brother, had been on bail awaiting trial for another murder when he was targeted in the Greenan area of west Belfast.

Detectives from the PSNI said the man charged with the murder is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 29. Meanwhile, a 53-year-old man, who was also arrested in connection with the murder, remains in police custody.

The police described the shooting as a “horrific, calculated and ruthless murder,” carried out in a busy residential area.

Three men have been arrested in connection to the murder, with one of them being released on bail. Detective Inspector Gina Quinn expressed her condolences to Conway’s family and the wider community, which is still in shock over the incident.

“This was a, calculated and ruthless murder, carried out in a busy residential area. Such cold-blooded brutality has absolutely no place in our society,” she added.

The case highlights the ongoing challenges facing the community in Belfast, shedding light on the impact of violence and crime in the area.
