Man Charged with Capital Murder for Fatal Shooting in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – A 30-year-old man faces capital murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing a 35-year-old man in front of the victim’s 10-year-old daughter, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The tragic incident unfolded early Sunday morning at around 1:45 a.m. when the Tuscaloosa Police Department received reports of a shooting in the 4600 block of Virginia Drive in Tuscaloosa. The victim, identified as Jakeria Rashaad May, also known as “Keith” to family members, sustained multiple gunshot wounds during an altercation at his residence.

Despite being rushed to DCH Regional Medical Center, May succumbed to his injuries. Responding to the scene, the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, under the leadership of Capt. Jack Kennedy, initiated a comprehensive investigation into the shooting.

Following the collection of crucial evidence and witness statements, investigators swiftly pinpointed Terrelle Devonte Williams as the primary suspect. In a collaborative effort with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, law enforcement located Williams and apprehended him. He now faces charges of capital murder and is being held without bond at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
