Louisville Woman Seriously Injured in Violent Home Invasion; Suspect Arrested and Confesses

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An 82-year-old woman in Louisville, Kentucky, was seriously injured in a violent home invasion over the weekend, leaving her in serious but stable condition, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). The arrest in the case was made on Monday, when a woman walked into Metro Corrections and confessed to the attack. The 30-year-old suspect, Jamara Cureton, turned herself in and admitted to the attack that occurred on Friday night in Valley Station.

Cureton, who is believed to be the person in screenshots released by LMPD, is accused of shattering the victim’s patio door, beating her, and stealing her wallet, cash, and phone. She has been charged with three counts of first-degree robbery in connection to the home invasion, but the police do not believe the injuries sustained by the victim would reach the level of attempted murder.

Additionally, Cureton confessed to two other home invasions nearby, one involving the assault of two people on Hilda Court, and another at the home of Christine Sears on Deering Road. Sears recounted a harrowing experience when, on New Year’s Eve, a woman, allegedly Cureton, entered her home through an unlocked back door. She managed to scare off the attacker with a broom handle and other objects, and expressed relief that someone had been arrested in connection to the string of home invasions in Valley Station.

Police believe Cureton acted alone during the alleged robberies and she is expected to appear in court on Tuesday morning. The elderly victim is expected to make a full recovery, providing a glimmer of hope amid the disturbing and violent nature of the home invasions.
