Limo Driver Murdered in Chicago: Man Charged with Armed Robbery and Murder

Chicago, Illinois – A Chicago man faces charges of murder and armed robbery in connection with the fatal shooting of a limousine driver. Kameron Freeman, 29, was taken into custody by Chicago Police on Thursday for his alleged role in the robbery and shooting of Mohammad Al Hijoj in North Austin on December 3rd.

Authorities have also charged 18-year-old Zayin Kelly, a resident of Chicago, with murder in the same case back in February. The incident took place when Al Hijoj, the 39-year-old owner of Chicago Worldwide Limo and a father of three, was fatally shot while working at Lotus and Wabansia.

According to the police, a witness reported seeing at least four male passengers inside the vehicle moments before shots were fired. Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. Al Hijoj succumbed to his injuries at the hospital shortly after, attributed to multiple gunshot wounds. A handgun was discovered near the site of the shooting.

The tragic event has shocked the local community, shedding light on the dangers faced by individuals working in the transportation industry. The arrests of Freeman and Kelly offer some semblance of closure to the family and loved ones of Al Hijoj, but the emotional scars of his untimely death will likely endure for a long time.

As the legal proceedings progress, the spotlight remains on the need for increased safety measures within the transportation sector to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. The swift action taken by law enforcement in apprehending the suspects underscores the commitment to bringing those responsible for senseless acts of violence to justice, providing a semblance of peace to the affected community.
