Last Seven Defendants Sentenced in Robbery Turned Capital Murder Case That Left Mother Dead

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Alissa Weese, the final co-defendant in the 2020 robbery turned capital murder case, has been sentenced to 10 years of adjudicated probation, with a requirement to serve six months in prison before beginning probation. This case stems from the death of Jasmine Williams, a 19-year-old mother who was shot during a home invasion while her two young children were present.

After originally rejecting a plea agreement that would have granted probation to Weese, State District Judge Velia J. Meza decided on the sentence. Weese was one of seven individuals charged with capital murder and robbery in the tragic incident. The assailants took various items from the home, including a piggy bank full of change, Williams’ debit card and cellphone. Williams was found unresponsive in her bedroom after her fiance discovered the open garage door and called the police.

The case has been filled with complications over the past three years, as defendants shifted blame, made threats, and changed their stories. Weese pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of robbery and is the last of the seven defendants to be sentenced. The charges against some defendants were dismissed due to evidence problems, while others received various sentences ranging from 5 to 30 years in prison.

The sentencing, carried out in the 226th District Court, marks the end of a long legal process, ensuring that each defendant is held accountable for their role in the tragic death of Jasmine Williams.
