Las Vegas woman charged in fatal hit-and-run

LAS VEGAS, NV – A 24-year-old woman is facing a murder charge after authorities allege she deliberately struck and killed a pedestrian with her vehicle. The incident occurred Thursday morning near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Valley View Boulevard, and was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.

Witnesses described the scene as horrifying. Initially reported as a fatal hit-and-run, the event quickly revealed more sinister undertones as investigators pieced together the evidence. Daniel Gonzalez, who has operated a local repair shop in the area for over three decades, expressed shock at the incident, noting a shift in the community’s demeanor over the years.

According to Gonzalez, the driver of a white GMC truck appeared to intentionally run over a man in the street. The situation allegedly began with a brief interaction between the two individuals at a nearby gas station. Javier Mercado, one of the first people to arrive at the scene, recounted the victim’s condition, stating that tire marks were visible across his abdomen. He attempted to communicate with the victim, who was conscious but quickly losing strength.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the University Medical Center. Thanks to footage from multiple cameras in the area, police were able to identify and apprehend the suspect, Mariana Armenta Yaracuy, within a short time frame. She is now charged with open murder, leaving witnesses and community members in disbelief.

Gonzalez expressed concern about the changing attitudes within his community, remarking on the increasing tendency for individuals to act impulsively and without regard for consequences. He lamented the loss of life and the impact on both the victim’s family and the suspect, who now faces significant legal repercussions.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday. The investigation continues as authorities seek to understand the motives behind this tragic incident.
