Kenneth Law Investigation Update: Multiple Homicide Charges Laid in Ontario Against Poison Seller

Toronto, Ontario – A multi-service task force is working closely with law enforcement agencies around the world to investigate Kenneth Law, a man now facing charges of murder in connection with multiple deaths in Ontario.

According to York Regional Police Insp. Simon James, the investigation into Law includes collaboration with agencies such as the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.K.’s National Crime Agency. Law was recently charged with 14 counts of second-degree murder in addition to the 14 counts of counselling or aiding suicide that he was already facing.

The new charges are related to alleged victims in multiple Ontario municipalities, including Toronto, Peel Region, York Region, Durham Region, Waterloo, London, and Thunder Bay. Law, 58, is currently in police custody with his next court date scheduled for Dec. 19 at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Newmarket.

Police allege that Law operated several websites that were used to sell sodium nitrite and other items that can be used for self-harm. Investigations have revealed that Law sent at least 1,200 packages to people in more than 40 countries, with at least 160 packages sent within Canada.

The case remains under investigation, with authorities in various countries confirming that Law’s packages were sent to addresses within their jurisdictions. Multiple Canadian police forces outside of Ontario are also reviewing past sudden deaths in light of the allegations against Law.

Peel police have urged the public to be vigilant about home deliveries from specific companies, advising individuals who have received packages from these businesses to contact their local police service immediately.
