KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – A tragic incident occurred when the bodies of three football fans were found frozen to death outside a friend’s home. The victims, Ricky Johnson, 38, David Harrington, 37, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, were discovered on January 9 in a Kansas City suburb. The homeowner, who is not being named because he has not been charged with a crime, has been questioned by the police but his attorney asserts that he had no involvement in their deaths.
According to the attorney, the homeowner was unaware that his friends had remained in his backyard and did not know they required medical attention. He claims that if his client had known, he would have immediately contacted help. The last time the homeowner saw his friends was when they left his house before he went to bed.
The police mentioned that foul play is not suspected in the deaths, but multiple agencies are working to determine the cause of the men’s demise. The tragic incident took place during freezing temperatures, with the temperature remaining below freezing for two consecutive days after the day of the football game.
The homeowner, a 38-year-old scientist who works remotely for a New York hospital, rents the home and lives alone. He spent the day of the game with his friends, and they did not leave until the early morning hours of the following day. However, he claims to have been asleep for most of Monday and unaware of the timing or manner of their deaths.
Additionally, the attorney stated that the homeowner did not receive any calls, text messages, or Facebook messages from the victims’ family and friends after they left his home. The deceased victims’ cars were parked outside, but the homeowner claims not to have seen them, as he sleeps with earbuds and a loud fan.
The cause of the deaths is still under investigation, with autopsies and toxicology tests conducted but the results pending. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed in connection to the deaths.
