Great Bend, Kansas — A troubling incident has prompted an investigation into a reported attack involving a man and his mother. Law enforcement officials descended on a residence in the 1700 block of Morton Street shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a call about a potential kidnapping and assault.
According to police reports, the distressing situation unfolded when a family member alerted authorities that a son was allegedly holding his mother at knife point. Upon arriving at the scene, officers quickly moved to surround the house as attempts to contact the occupants proved unsuccessful.
Working alongside the Kansas Highway Patrol, officers prepared a search warrant, seeking to ensure the safety of those inside the residence. Once the warrant was executed, law enforcement located 33-year-old Patton Mills, who was taken into custody without resistance.
