Investigation Underway After Deadly American Fork Home Explosion

AMERICAN FORK, Utah – Authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding a fatal explosion that occurred in a residence in American Fork on Wednesday. The incident resulted in the tragic death of a woman in the early hours of the morning.

Reported just before 6 a.m., the explosion took place in a duplex located near 300 E. Main Street in American Fork. As investigators sifted through the debris, they discovered the body of the woman who lost her life in the blast. At this time, her identity has not been released to the public.

Despite the destruction caused by the explosion, a second woman residing in the other half of the duplex, along with a dog, managed to escape with only minor injuries. In addition to the devastation of the duplex, surrounding homes also suffered damage from the flying debris generated by the explosion.

Firefighters swiftly extinguished the ensuing fire, thwarting further destruction. Nevertheless, fire officials are still scouring the area for any potential additional victims while delving into the investigation to uncover the cause of the explosion.
