Inmate Skylar Meade Captured After Multiple Homicides Investigation in Idaho

TWIN FALLS, Idaho – The Idaho State Police are currently investigating a series of homicides surrounding the capture of an inmate and an accomplice, marking a chilling turn of events in the state. Skylar Meade, an inmate, and his suspected accomplice Nicholas Umphenour managed to escape from custody, sparking a statewide manhunt that ultimately led to their arrest.

Authorities suspect that Meade and Umphenour are connected to the disappearance of 83-year-old James L. Mauney from Juliaetta, Idaho. Mauney went missing after taking his dogs for a walk and never returning home. Tragically, his body was discovered near an abandoned Honda Civic, which authorities believe was used by the fugitives.

The investigation took a darker turn when authorities responded to a homicide in Orofino, where 72-year-old Gerald “Don” Henderson was found deceased in his home. Allegedly, Mauney’s dogs and Meade’s handcuffs were discovered at the scene, raising more questions about the suspects’ potential involvement in Henderson’s death.

Following leads and tips from the community, law enforcement was able to track down the stolen Chrysler Pacifica at a residence in Filer. A swift operation led to the arrests of Meade and Umphenour, without any exchange of gunfire. Additionally, Tonia Huber was also taken into custody for her alleged connection to Meade, further expanding the scope of the investigation.

As the investigation continues, authorities are still piecing together the events leading to the homicides and the motive behind the crimes. Meanwhile, all three suspects have appeared in court to have their bonds set, with Meade and Umphenour being held on a $2 million bond each, while Huber’s bond was set at $500,000. The community remains on edge as they grapple with the shocking events that unfolded in their midst.
