Injustice Unveiled: Trump and Comer Unleash Fury Over Hunter Biden’s Lenient Deal

Posted on June 21, 2023June 21, 2023 by DT

Former President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the lenient treatment given to Hunter Biden for his tax and gun-related offenses. On Truth Social, Trump shared his opinion that there was no crime and accused it of being election interference. In contrast, Trump faces 37 counts for mishandling classified documents found in his Mar-a-Lago residence after an FBI raid.

Rep. James Comer from the House Oversight Committee (R-KY) criticized the light punishment given to Hunter Biden, stating that evidence revealed a pattern of corruption, influence peddling, and potential bribery by the Bidens. Comer also pointed out that the investigations into Hunter were still ongoing, contradicting the notion that his legal issues were resolved.

The Washington Post reported that Hunter Biden is said to have tentatively agreed to plead guilty to two minor tax offenses and confess to a gun charge based on court documents. The agreement would likely result in probation and participation in a diversion program, avoiding jail time. Notably, the charges do not pertain to Hunter’s alleged involvement as a go-between for the Biden family, including a $10 million payment from Burisma.

The federal investigation into Hunter Biden initially focused on his financial activities related to overseas business ties. Over time, the investigation shifted to his failure to report income and potential false statements made during the purchase of a firearm in 2018. Critics argue that this strategy protects President Biden from implication, as the investigation has not delved into the alleged international influence-peddling operation involving his son.

The controversy surrounding Hunter Biden extends to his gun purchase, as he reportedly lied on the required form about his drug use. The form explicitly asks about the use of illegal drugs, and Hunter falsely denied it. Additionally, the disposal of the gun in a trash bin by Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter’s deceased brother, raised further concerns.

Some legal experts question the constitutionality of certain laws that Hunter Biden’s lawyers may challenge, particularly those restricting the Second Amendment rights of drug users. President Biden has advocated for red flag laws and stricter gun controls, but his son’s apparent violation of federal gun laws presents a potential dilemma for the Justice Department.

It is worth noting the irony that President Biden signed a law increasing the maximum penalty for Hunter’s alleged gun offense from 10 to 15 years, a charge that could carry significant prison time. This juxtaposition raises questions about the president’s stance on gun-related offenses, given his advocacy for tougher laws.
