Polk County, Florida – A tragic incident has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man in connection with the death of his infant daughter, as reported by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation, a collaborative effort between the sheriff’s office and the Bartow Police Department, commenced on February 22 following the arrival of a 4-month-old at Bartow Regional Medical Center displaying concerning injuries and no brain activity.
After being airlifted to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, it was revealed that the infant had suffered severe injuries including a fractured skull, hemorrhaging to the brain, bruises, scratches, and broken ribs. Interviews with the infant’s parents, Jacob Kubai and his wife, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the child’s injuries.
Kubai recounted the events of the day, stating that the baby appeared fine during a trip to a local store but was later found unresponsive at home. Despite Kubai’s account, security footage from the store showed discrepancies in his timeline. Subsequent investigations confirmed the presence of multiple blunt force trauma injuries and rib fractures on the infant’s body.
Sheriff Grady Judd expressed disbelief at the extent of the infant’s injuries and emphasized the severity of the case.
