Human Remains of Four People Discovered at Genesee County Property, Police Say

A second property tied to Duane Reynolds was searched as police investigate remains found nearby.

FOREST TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police searched another Genesee County property this week after confirming that human remains from at least four people were found at a former Duane Reynolds property on Willard Road.

The June 10 search brought new focus to land once owned by Reynolds, who died in December 2024. Police said the second property and the Willard Road home were both formerly owned by him. Authorities have not released results from the second search or said whether any new evidence was found.

The investigation began March 18, when a recent buyer of the Willard Road property reported finding what appeared to be human remains. Michigan State Police later confirmed the remains were from multiple people. By June 10, investigators said at least four sets of human remains had been found. The identities remain unknown, and police have not released ages, sexes or possible causes of death.

Investigators are using several agencies to help identify the remains. The Genesee County Medical Examiner’s Office and Michigan State University anthropologists are involved in the case. Police also said the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification is assisting through a National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative grant. That work could include scientific testing meant to match remains to missing-person records or family DNA.

ABC12 reported that the second search involved a Harris Road property also tied to Reynolds. The station reported that Reynolds had been connected to a 2017 police contact after a woman ran from a trailer on that property. According to the report, the woman was unclothed and told a nearby resident there was a man behind her. Police questioned Reynolds at the time, but no charge was filed after a warrant request was denied.

The Harris Road property is about a mile from the Willard Road home, according to ABC12. The current owner of the Harris Road land, Ed Brown, told the station he allowed police to search the property and wanted families of missing people to have closure. A relative of Reynolds declined comment to ABC12.

Police have not linked the 2017 report to the remains found on Willard Road. They also have not named Reynolds as a suspect. As of Friday, June 12, the case remained open, with investigators still working to identify the dead and determine what happened at the properties.
