Houston Nursing Student Elizabeth Odunsi Stabbed to Death by Roommate Following Dispute over Pets

HOUSTON — A tragic incident has shocked the local community after the death of a nursing student last weekend. Elizabeth Tamilore Odunsi, a 23-year-old originally from England, was fatally stabbed allegedly by her roommate in their apartment.

Houston police have identified the suspect as Chester Grant, a 40-year-old man who reportedly attempted to take his own life following the violent altercation. He is currently in custody and facing serious charges.

The incident occurred on April 26 in their residence on Goforth Street in Houston’s south side. Authorities discovered Odunsi unresponsive on the kitchen floor, suffering from multiple stab wounds. An argument between the two roommates, centered on their shared responsibility for several cats, escalated over several days, culminating in the fatal encounter.

Police revealed that Odunsi and Grant had been roommates for approximately two months. Friends described Odunsi as a dedicated nursing student eagerly anticipating her graduation, which was scheduled for this weekend.

After the stabbing, Grant reportedly inflicted serious injuries on himself, including six stab wounds, one of which was to his neck. He was taken to the hospital for treatment before being placed in the Harris County Jail. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the apartment complex and interviewing witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. Community members have expressed their grief and outrage, rallying to support Odunsi’s family during this difficult time.

The local nursing school community is mourning the loss as they reflect on the promising future that was tragically cut short. The case has raised questions about roommate dynamics and conflict resolution, highlighting the importance of healthy communication in shared living situations.

Grant is scheduled to appear in court on Monday as investigators continue to gather evidence in this disturbing case.
