Homeless Woman Apprehended as Suspect in Deadly Santa Monica Shooting

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – A 27-year-old homeless woman has been apprehended as the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old Los Angeles man, Edward Williams III. The shooting took place in Santa Monica on Thursday morning and was reported to have been the result of an argument between the suspect, Kayla Denise Mackey, and the victim.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, Mackey was arrested on Friday morning in West Los Angeles. Witnesses provided crucial information that led to the identification and subsequent capture of the suspect. It was reported that the victim, Williams, was found shot in his vehicle on the 2600 block of 29th Street around 10:30 a.m. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries later that day.
