Gunfire Erupts After Concert: 5 Teens Injured

CHICAGO, Illinois — Five teenagers were hospitalized after gunshots rang out on the Near West Side of the city. The incident occurred around midnight following a concert near the United Center.

According to authorities, the shooting took place on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of West Monroe Street. As concert-goers were making their way home, shots were fired from a passing vehicle. Evidence markers at the scene indicate that multiple rounds were discharged, with some even striking the windshield of a taxi.

All five victims were transported to nearby hospitals by the Chicago Fire Department. A 15-year-old boy was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg. Two 18-year-olds were taken to Stroger Hospital, both in good condition. One suffered a graze wound to the left arm, while the other sustained a gunshot wound to the right leg. Additionally, two 16-year-old boys were taken to Stroger Hospital, both in good condition. One had a gunshot wound to the right arm, while the other had a gunshot wound to the right leg.

The cab driver, whose vehicle was struck by several bullets, remained unharmed and stayed at the scene during the investigation. There is no clear motive for the shooting, and it is not known if the victims were leaving the United Center after the concert.

Chicago Police are actively investigating the incident, and as of now, no arrests have been made.
