Fort Worth, Texas – Businesses that suffered from the explosion at a downtown Fort Worth hotel earlier this year are now eligible to receive grant money for rebuilding. The explosion, which occurred at the Signature Sandman Downtown Hotel, has caused ongoing challenges for businesses near the affected area since the street closure on Jan. 8.
Clean-up efforts at the site of the explosion are still underway and are expected to take several more weeks to complete. To assist businesses impacted by the incident, the Local Development Corporation in Fort Worth recently approved a $250,000 disaster recovery stimulus program. Eligible businesses located on 8th Street, between Throckmorton and Houston street, can now apply for grants of up to $50,000.
Business owners who apply for the grant have six months to provide receipts demonstrating how the funds were used for program-eligible expenses, such as rent/mortgage, employee support, utilities, supplies, or other approved business needs. This financial assistance aims to support businesses in their recovery efforts and facilitate a return to normal operations in the area.
Additionally, the Local Development Corporation focuses on job creation within the city, emphasizing the importance of supporting businesses following unforeseen events like the explosion.
