Garfield Park Gas Station Double-Shooting Leaves Man Dead, Woman Wounded

Chicago, Illinois – Chicago Police are currently investigating a tragic incident at a BP gas station in Garfield Park that resulted in a fatal double-shooting. The violence at the gas station has led to the closure of the store, with a man losing his life and a woman sustaining injuries.

Reportedly, the shooting occurred around 10:40 am, claiming the life of a 25-year-old man and causing a 21-year-old woman to be wounded in the leg. Law enforcement authorities carried out investigations at the gas station, located near the intersection of Sacramento Blvd and Fulton St., gathering evidence including bullet fragments and over 60 evidence markers scattered around the gas pumps.

Residents in the area expressed shock and concern over the incident, with one neighbor describing the situation as “insanity.” Another individual, while waiting for a bus near the gas station, highlighted the danger of such occurrences in a community where children are exposed to such violence.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle following the drive-up shooting. This unfortunate event adds to a series of shootings that have taken place near gas stations in the city, underscoring the ongoing issue of gun violence that plagues certain neighborhoods.

Just last week, a tragic mass shooting on the South Side claimed the lives of two innocent bystanders after an altercation erupted near a busy gas station and convenience store. The prevalence of such incidents underscores the urgent need for measures to address and prevent gun violence in Chicago and beyond.
