Florida Murders Connected: Carjacking and Shooting Cases Linked by Suspect Vehicle and Weapon

Seminole County, Florida – Recent investigations in two separate Central Florida counties have led authorities to believe that two murders may be linked. One of the incidents involved the carjacking and abduction of Katherine Aguasvivas in Seminole County, ultimately resulting in her tragic death. In a separate case, Juan Cintron-Garcia was fatally shot in Orange County.

Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma announced on Monday that evidence suggests a connection between the suspect vehicle and weapon used in both cases. Katherine’s father, speaking anonymously out of concern for his family’s safety, described the devastating impact of her death on their entire family. According to Sheriff Lemma, Katherine was forcibly taken from her vehicle during a carjacking at Winter Springs last Thursday, with the entire incident captured on video.

The video footage shows a masked assailant brandishing a gun, threatening Katherine before entering the vehicle and driving off, pursued by a green Acura. It was revealed that the green Acura, a rare model in the state of Florida, had been previously associated with a murder case in Orange County. The tow truck driver who had towed the vehicle was identified as Juan Cintron-Garcia, linking the two cases together.

Authorities noted that a similar green car was seen at the scene of Cintron-Garcia’s murder in Taft, where over a hundred rounds were reportedly fired. A connection was also made to a construction site in Osceola County where Katherine’s burned SUV and body were discovered, with the same uncommon 10mm rounds found at both scenes. While the green Acura has since been located, the individuals believed to be involved in both crimes remain at large.

In a surprising turn of events, an Orange County deputy was arrested in connection with the cases, facing five felony charges related to illegal wiretapping and misuse of police databases. Sheriff Lemma revealed that the deputy had posed as a detective to share confidential information about the case with the victim’s husband. Law enforcement experts emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations regarding the use of privileged information in official capacities.
