Florida Man Charged with Murder After Confessing to Killing Girlfriend

Florida City, Florida – A Florida man is facing a murder charge after confessing to killing his girlfriend and then driving to the police station with her body, as reported by authorities. Alexander Roque, 48, was arrested by Florida City police following the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, 44-year-old Yessenia Rodriguez Marquez. He has been booked into a Miami-Dade County jail and charged with felony second-degree murder.

According to reports, Roque drove to the police station in Florida City with Marquez’s body in his car to report the crime, where he confessed to the murder. Investigators found a gun inside his vehicle believed to have been used in the crime.

Roque allegedly contacted his cousin and Marquez’s estranged husband before driving to the police station, showing the husband photos and a video call of her body. Both individuals contacted the authorities after speaking with Roque. The motive behind the killing still remains unclear.

Appearing in court on Monday, Roque was denied bond and is scheduled to appear again on Tuesday. The Miami-Dade Police Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation from Florida City police, with more information being sought to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the murder.
