Fatal Stabbing at Peterborough Gas Station in 1989 Still Unsolved: Can you Help?

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. – The 1989 fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old gas station attendant in Peterborough remains unsolved, leaving family and authorities without closure for over three decades.

Craig Lane was working at the Texaco Station on Route 202 when he was killed in an apparent robbery on the evening of Jan. 8, 1989. The assailant fatally stabbed Lane and fled the scene with stolen money, leaving behind a distraught community and a grieving family.

Witnesses reported seeing a white man fleeing the gas station, and authorities believe the suspect was in his teens to early 20s at the time of the incident. Today, the suspect would likely be in his late 40s to early 50s. He was described as approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slim-to-medium build, brown, medium-length hair, and was wearing a red jacket with a blue stripe, blue jeans, and a dark baseball cap.

The New Hampshire Cold Case Unit continues to seek any information about the case and is urging the public to come forward with any tips or leads that could help solve the mystery of the unsolved homicide.
