Fatal Shootout at Philadelphia Car Meetup Leaves Two Dead: Sister pleads for help

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – A tragic incident at a car meetup in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighborhood resulted in the deaths of two women and left two others wounded. The sister of one of the deceased victims is now seeking help from the public to solve the murder.

Melani Merejo-Medina fondly remembers her sister Pamela as a vibrant and outgoing individual who touched the lives of many. On the night of May 30, 2022, Pamela, along with her best friend, found themselves in the midst of a chaotic scene on the 2900 block of East Tioga Street. They were about to leave a car meetup when gunfire erupted, tragically claiming Pamela’s life and that of 16-year-old Andrea De Los Santos, with two others sustaining injuries.

Authorities have informed Merejo-Medina that her sister and De Los Santos were not the intended targets of the violence that unfolded during the weekend. The City of Philadelphia saw a spike in gun violence, with multiple incidents occurring, including a deadly shooting on Lawrence Street in North Philadelphia, where a man lost his life and a woman was left wounded after being shot multiple times.

In another heartbreaking incident just an hour later in Wissinoming, a 37-year-old man and his 9-year-old son were fatally shot outside their home. The city has now offered up to $20,000 in reward money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Pamela’s death.

Merejo-Medina passionately appeals to anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the need for closure and justice for her sister and the other victims. The Citizens Crime Commission can be reached at 215-546-TIPS, with all calls being kept anonymous to ensure the safety of those providing crucial information.

The community is urged to stand together in the face of such senseless violence, as law enforcement continues to investigate these tragic events and seek out those accountable for the loss of innocent lives.
