Hawthorne, California – A woman was fatally shot, and five other individuals were injured in a shooting near a strip mall in Hawthorne early Sunday. Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Arturo Spencer reported that one man was in critical condition, while the other four were in stable condition.
The shooting took place as people were congregating at a strip mall, although the reason behind the gathering and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. The incident occurred at around 12:27 a.m. on the 14100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, prompting Hawthorne police to respond to a call of gunshots. One man was found with gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Other victims were found at surrounding hospitals, and tragically, one of them succumbed to her injuries. As of now, the medical examiner’s office has not yet identified the deceased woman. Detectives are currently without a description of the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting.
