Fatal Shooting at Tulsa Juvenile Party Marks First Homicide of 2024

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police are investigating the city’s first murder of 2024, which occurred at a rental house party where a 12-year-old boy was fatally shot. The incident took place at a home near 1900 East 14th Street on January 1, with officers responding to a shooting call at approximately 10:32 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the young victim dead in the entryway.

According to the initial investigation by the Tulsa Police Department (TPD), the house had been rented earlier that day for a party for the renter’s juvenile nephew. At the time of the shooting, there were five to six juveniles and one adult teenager present. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots while the victim, who appeared to be intoxicated, was on the porch.

Although none of the initial witnesses provided a suspect description, three juveniles later came forward for questioning with their parents. Investigators found shell casings and bullet strikes near the street, indicating that the shooting took place outside the house. It is believed that the victim was not the intended target, and the shooting was a targeted attack linked to the location of the party.

TPD is seeking additional witnesses from the party as the investigation continues. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677.
