Fatal Explosion at Firecracker Manufacturing Unit Kills Three in Belthangady, Karnataka

Bengaluru, Karnataka – Three individuals tragically lost their lives in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Belthangady, Karnataka. The deceased include two Malayalis, 58-year-old Varghese and 55-year-old Swamy, both from Thrissur, as well as 25-year-old Chetan from Hassan. Additionally, six others, including another Malayali, sustained injuries in the incident.

Reports indicate that the explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing unit situated on a farm owned by Malappuram native Basheer. Subsequently, two individuals, including Basheer, have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

The tragic incident unfolded around 5 pm on a Sunday, with a total of nine individuals present at the time of the explosion. According to eyewitnesses in the area, the impact of the explosion was felt as far as 4 km away, prompting a response from the fire brigade in Belthangady to carry out the rescue operation.
