Fatal Accidents Claim Six Lives in Triple Road Crashes along Lagos/Ibadan and Sagamu/Benin/Ore Expressways

LAGOS, Nigeria – Tragedy struck on the roads of Lagos and Ogun State as six passengers lost their lives in three separate accidents. The Federal Roads Safety Corps in Ogun confirmed the fatalities, shedding light on the devastating crashes that occurred along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway and Sagamu/Benin/Ore Expressway.

The first crash took place in the early hours of Monday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near FIDIWO. Out of the four individuals involved, two died, and two sustained injuries. According to officials, the crash was attributed to wrongful overtaking and speeding, resulting in the vehicle losing control and crashing. While the injured were rushed to Victory Hospital in Ogere, the deceased were taken to the FOS morgue in Ipara.

Shortly after, another tragic accident unfolded on the Ore-Ijebu-Ode section of the expressway, claiming the lives of three individuals. Speed and fatigue were identified as the main factors contributing to this fatal crash. Those injured were promptly taken to Roona Hospital and the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, while the deceased were transported to the hospital’s morgue.

The third crash occurred on the same expressway after Ajebamidele Bridge, involving 29 people. Sadly, one male adult lost his life, while two others were injured, leaving 26 passengers unharmed. Following these harrowing incidents, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, Anthony Uga emphasized the importance of safe driving practices and adequate rest to prevent fatigue among motorists.

The devastating loss of lives in these accidents serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers that lurk on the roads, urging all drivers to exercise caution and prioritize safety at all times.
