Factory Explosion in Telangana Claims Five Lives and Injures Ten, Prompting Rescue Efforts

In Sangareddy, Telangana, a tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday when an explosion at a chemical factory claimed the lives of at least five individuals and left 10 others injured. The explosion occurred at SB Organics Private Ltd, a pharmaceutical company located in Chandapur village of Hatunura mandal, approximately 60 kilometers away from Hyderabad. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm, causing devastation within the factory premises.

Reportedly, around 60 workers were on shift at the factory, with 15 workers operating near the reactor where the explosion originated. The intensity of the blast led to flames engulfing the entire unit, resulting in the building’s collapse. Local authorities, including the Patancheru Police led by Deputy Superintendent Ravinder Reddy, immediately responded to the scene with fire tenders to initiate rescue operations. Firefighters successfully contained the flames within an hour of arrival.

Tragically, five bodies, including those of the production manager and shift in-charge, were recovered from the site. The identities of the other victims, whose bodies were severely damaged, remain unknown. The injured workers received medical attention at Sangareddy government hospital and were later transferred to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. Authorities indicated that the workers affected by the explosion were likely from Bihar.

Several officials, including Sangareddy Superintendent of Police Ch Rupesh, state minister Konda Surekha, and local MLAs, visited the factory to assess the situation. The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, also reviewed the incident and instructed the fire department to expedite rescue efforts and contain the fire. The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
