Explosive Detonation Shakes Gloversville Neighborhood

GLOVERSVILLE, NY – A neighborhood in Gloversville was rattled by a pair of explosions early Wednesday morning, leaving residents on edge. One tenant, Dennis Collins, who was home at the time of the detonation, described feeling shaken by the incident. Police officials, however, have remained tight-lipped about the investigation’s progress into the explosions that occurred on Helwig Street.

Gloversville Police Capt. Bradley Schaffer emphasized the agency’s commitment to resolving the case, working closely with agencies such as the FBI and ATF. Despite the ongoing investigation, Schaffer stated that no significant new information would be released at this time.

The aftermath of the explosions left visible damage, with wooden beams now standing in place of a destroyed porch at 36 Helwig St. The residence, owned by Colin Tyndall, saw the destructive impact of what police described as “improvised explosive devices.”

Upon hearing the loud blasts that shook the building, tenant Dennis Collins discovered his porch railing and front window damaged. While hoping for updates from the authorities, Collins awaited news on the investigation’s progress.

Reflecting on the incident, Mayor Vincent DeSantis confirmed that the explosions resulted in only property damage. However, DeSantis refrained from providing further comments on the matter as the investigation continued.

In response to the alarming events on Helwig Street, the community remains vigilant as law enforcement agencies work diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible for the explosions. Residents are urged to stay informed and report any suspicious activities to aid in the investigation.
