Explosive Charge Injures IDF Reservist for Kicking Palestinian Flag in West Bank

Kochav Hashahar, West Bank – An IDF reservist was injured after kicking a Palestinian flag in Kochav Hashahar, West Bank, which triggered an explosive charge planted underneath, as reported by Israeli media on Sunday. The reservist, who was on temporary leave, sustained light injuries in the incident.

Reports initially indicated that the individual wounded was an Israeli resident of Binyamin in the West Bank. However, the IDF later confirmed that the injured person was actually an IDF soldier in reserve who was home on vacation. IDF troops were deployed to search the area for any suspects responsible for the attack.

This incident occurred shortly after an attempted stabbing and shooting attack targeted IDF soldiers in a separate incident north of Hebron. Additionally, an attempted shooting attack took place at Kibbutz Meirav on Mount Gilboa on the same day. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in that incident, though a compound suffered minor damage according to the IDF.

During the search for suspects in the nearby village of Jalbun, an explosive device was hurled at the troops by unknown assailants. Thankfully, no injuries or damages were reported in this particular attack. The military took precautionary measures by blocking off roads while continuing their search for suspects.

In response to recent tensions, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir issued a ban on Palestinian flags in public spaces in January, and police were ordered to remove any flags on-site. The situation remains fluid, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
