Explosions Investigation Underway in Henry County Raises Concerns

NEW CASTLE, Ind. — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking into a series of powerful explosions that occurred in New Castle on Wednesday night. Residents reported hearing and feeling at least three large explosions, prompting a response from the authorities.

Upon receiving reports of the explosions, deputies were dispatched to a residence on South Clearview Drive in New Castle. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed the exact time at which the investigation began, but it is currently ongoing.

According to Henry County Sheriff John Sproles, the county dispatch received over 50 calls from residents following the explosions. Some callers mentioned feeling the impact of the blasts even inside their homes, which were located nearly a mile away from the source.

Preliminary information from the HCSO suggests that the explosions were likely caused by small legal fireworks, as five males were found at the residence upon the deputies’ arrival. Following a search of the property, no injuries or signs of damage were reported.

The investigation into the explosions is still active as the authorities work to gather more information on the incident. The risk of large fireworks causing significant disturbances is a concern for the community, and the sheriff’s office is emphasizing the importance of using fireworks responsibly to avoid such issues in the future.
