Explosion Tragedy Unites Palisade Community in Wake of Deadly Incident

Grand Junction, Colorado – The community of Palisade is reeling after a tragic explosion that took the life of one individual and displaced many others. The incident, which occurred on April 5th in a six-unit apartment complex, has brought together law enforcement and fire officials to provide answers and support to the community.

During a poignant press conference, emotions were high as officials shared the details of the devastating event. Palisade Fire Chief, Charles Balke, revealed that the fire department was alerted to an explosion at 7:15 am on April 5th. Tragically, it was later confirmed that the fire was deliberately set, leading to the loss of one life.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Kloey Weythman of Palisade, while Palisade Police Chief, Jesse Stanford, disclosed that the individual responsible for the explosion, Andrew Alderman, was found deceased in Lake County, Colorado. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

In a show of solidarity, both the Palisade Fire and Police Departments emphasized the importance of unity and support within the community during this challenging time. They encouraged residents to come together and attend a vigil at Veteran’s Memorial Park to honor the victim and those affected by the tragedy.

The upcoming vigil, scheduled for this Friday at 5 pm, will serve as a time for healing and remembrance. Community members are encouraged to bring Perennials to be planted by the town at the Palisade sign in Veteran’s Memorial Park, symbolizing growth and resilience in the face of adversity.
