Explosion Sparks Early Morning Fire in Annandale, Virginia – Firefighters Battle Blaze for Hours

Annandale, Virginia – A home in Annandale, Virginia, was engulfed in flames after an explosion was heard by neighbors in the early hours of Monday morning.

Firefighters from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to the fire on Ann Fitz Hugh Drive around 3:45 a.m. Smoke billowed from the roof of the residence, creating a glow of fire visible from outside.

Approximately 65 firefighters were on the scene to tackle the two-alarm fire, which posed challenges due to debris inside the structure. Deputy Chief Greg Hunter mentioned that the operation would likely continue for an extended period into the morning as they work through accessing the affected areas safely.

As of 6 a.m., firefighters were still working to put out hotspots and smoke continued to emanate from the roof. Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported among the firefighters who responded to the incident.

The situation raised concerns about the possibility of occupants being inside the home when the fire broke out, although it was not immediately confirmed whether anyone was present at the time.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, as authorities strive to contain the damage and prevent further escalation. Updates on the situation will be provided as more information becomes available.
