Explosion Investigation Underway on Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad Near Brady

Brady, Washington – The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an explosion that was reported on the Puget Sound and Pacific railroad near Brady on February 10th. According to Undersheriff Kevin Schrader, the initial report came from railroad personnel near the Fire District 2 Station 2-2.

Schrader stated, “On the 10th, a little after 9 p.m., we were contacted by the conductor of a train traveling eastbound through Montesano. The conductor observed what he called an explosion, a flash with a loud bang. It didn’t cause any damage to the train itself.” This incident comes in the wake of a similar event that occurred several months ago.

An examination of the area by sheriff’s office personnel revealed some potential evidence. “We found possible partial remnants of an explosive device,” said Schrader. “We’re talking with the Washington state bomb squad to see if the device is something that could have caused the explosion.”

Concerns have been raised about the nature and scale of the issue. Schrader expressed, “We don’t know at this point if it’s someone messing around and having fun with fireworks or the start to a bigger issue. If anyone observed anything out there, please give us a call.”

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident and is urging anyone with information to come forward. The potential threat posed by this explosion has raised community concerns and the authorities are working to ensure the safety and security of the area.
