Explosion in Kakinada Kills Two Workers in Oil Tanker Blast

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh: A tragic incident unfolded in Kakinada district when an oil tanker explosion took the lives of two individuals. Kocherla Prabhakar, a 39-year-old lorry driver, and Boora Somaraju, a 39-year-old welding worker, both hailing from Kathipudi village in Santhanamparava mandal, succumbed to the blast.

The unfortunate event occurred near Durgada village in Gollaprolu mandal, where an empty oil tanker owned by G. Gangadhar was undergoing welding repairs. Sub-inspector A. Balaji of Gollaprolu reported that a powerful blast tore through the tanker during the maintenance process.

Investigations into the explosion have indicated that the cause could potentially be linked to residual oil igniting while welding was taking place. Despite the owner’s claim that the tanker had been cleaned at a service center, Inspector Balaji emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry to establish the precise cause of the tragedy.

The force of the explosion threw Prabhakar and Somaraju against an iron rod, resulting in fatal head injuries for both individuals. Gollaprolu police have initiated legal proceedings and are actively probing the circumstances surrounding the incident. The community mourns the loss of these two lives and awaits further updates as the investigation unfolds.
