Explosion Fatality in Somerset Home Prompts Investigation

Somerset, Kentucky – An explosion at a residence in Pulaski County has tragically resulted in the death of one individual. Emergency crews were summoned to the 200 block of Hidden Crest Drive in Somerset, Kentucky, on Sunday morning around 10 a.m. after reports of an explosion. Upon arrival, responders discovered a deceased man at the scene.

According to Pulaski County sheriff Bobby Jones, a press release revealed that a garage located behind the home had been devastated by the explosion, causing damage to other areas within the neighborhood. The incident is suspected to have been triggered by fireworks and other materials stored inside the garage.

Residents and emergency personnel were permitted access to the neighborhood near Highway 27, while the general public was barred from entry. Cody Weddle, a firefighter from Parker’s Mill Fire Department, reported receiving numerous calls from across Pulaski County about the explosion.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) has initiated an investigation into the cause of the explosion. The sheriff’s office has also launched a death investigation in connection with the incident. Despite reassurances from Sheriff Jones that there is no imminent danger to the public, individuals are advised to steer clear of the area to facilitate ongoing investigative efforts.
