The devastating blast occurred around 7 a.m. Sunday, shortly after the couple had returned home following their wedding festivities.
The couple, alongside family members and wedding guests who had opted to stay overnight, were asleep when the explosion rocked their home. Eyewitness accounts described a scene of chaos, with the force of the blast causing extensive damage, including the collapse of the roof and the destruction of walls. Such was the power of the explosion that it left three neighboring homes in ruin as well.
First responders arrived to find a scene filled with debris and wreckage. Rescuers worked against the clock to pull several injured individuals from beneath the rubble, many requiring stretchers for transport. Local authorities have reported that more than a dozen others sustained injuries in the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a gas leak was the likely cause of the explosion, with officials stating that flammable gas had filled the room before igniting. Sadly, Masih noted that not only his son but also his daughter-in-law, wife, and sister-in-law lost their lives in the blast.
