U Maung Thein and his son were working near a site previously occupied by military forces when they unexpectedly came across a dormant explosive device hidden among rocks and soil. As U Maung Thein attempted to remove the bomb, it detonated, resulting in catastrophic injuries that led to his immediate death. His son fortunately survived the explosion.
This incident is not isolated; just a few weeks prior, another explosion in Yankhor village also claimed a life and left another teenager injured. Local residents express concerns about the frequency of such incidents, attributing the lack of awareness and educational resources about unexploded ordnance to rising casualties in the region.
