Elmira Families Seek Accountability for Violent Dog Attacks on Children

ELMIRA, Ore. – Parents in Elmira, Oregon are seeking accountability from a dog owner whose pet has been involved in multiple attacks on children at Elmira Elementary School. One of the recent victims, eighth-grader Khloe Bartram, was left with five stitches on her face and a staple in her head after being attacked on the school grounds.

According to Bartram, the dog escaped from its harness and attacked her while she and a friend were walking from the high school to the middle school. Despite being pulled off by her friend, the dog was able to inflict serious injuries on Bartram, prompting a seven-hour hospital visit that resulted in stitches and a staple.

The Bartram family stated that the owner of the dog, after apologizing and putting a muzzle on the animal, simply walked away. Furthermore, they claimed that the school district had already warned the owner about bringing the dog on school grounds, indicating a pattern of negligence. Another parent, who chose to remain anonymous, also reported that her daughter had been attacked by the same dog just three months prior.

With multiple incidents involving the same dog, parents are calling for greater accountability from the owner and for measures to prevent future attacks. They argue that dogs known to be potentially dangerous should not be brought to public spaces, especially schools, where children are present. The need for proper evaluation and control of such dogs has become a major concern for the community.

The incidents have prompted the Bartram family to file a police report, but their primary goal is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The community is calling for responsible pet ownership and safety measures to ensure the well-being of students at Elmira Elementary School.
