HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colorado – The family of Jalin Seabron, who was fatally shot by a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy outside a popular entertainment venue earlier this month, strongly disputes the official account of the shooting. The incident took place in the aftermath of a separate shooting that occurred inside the Main Event establishment in Highlands Ranch.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy, responding to reports of the initial shooting, encountered Seabron in the parking lot allegedly pointing a weapon towards individuals. The deputy claimed that Seabron ignored commands to drop the gun and turned towards the deputy, prompting the use of lethal force. However, Seabron’s family, represented by attorney Tyrone Glover, asserts that video evidence they were shown contradicts the sheriff’s version of events.
Glover stated that the footage does not support the claims that Seabron brandished a weapon, turned towards law enforcement, or refused commands before being shot. The family disputes any insinuation by the sheriff’s office that Seabron was involved in the earlier incident that led to the “active shooter” situation at Main Event on the night of the fatal encounter.
Nevaeha Crowley-Sanders, now facing a multitude of charges including attempted murder and assault, was allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with another woman in the Main Event restroom before the shooting that prompted the emergency response. Seabron, who was fatally shot by the deputy, is identified as Crowley-Sanders’ step-brother, raising questions about the potential connection between the two incidents.
The demand for the immediate release of all video recordings capturing the events leading up to Seabron’s death, an impartial investigation into the shooting, and a retraction of the sheriff’s office’s statements has been raised by the family’s legal representative. Glover condemned the sheriff’s office for supposedly intertwining separate incidents in an effort to justify the shooting of an innocent individual.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has chosen not to respond to the family’s assertions, deferring to their earlier communication on the matter. Glover revealed that Seabron’s passing has left behind a grieving mother and a pregnant partner carrying his unborn child. The quest for transparency and accountability in the handling of this tragic event remains a focal point for the family and their legal counsel.
