Disagreement Escalates into Deadly Shooting in Clatskanie Oregon

Portland, Oregon – A shooting incident in Clatskanie on Saturday resulted in two fatalities, including the shooter. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office identified the gunman as 32-year-old Anthony Hanson.

According to investigators, the shooting erupted from a disagreement that quickly escalated into violence when Hanson opened fire on four individuals at a residence on IImari Road. In response, 21-year-old Ryan Thies shot back, ultimately killing Hanson.

Tragically, 28-year-old Molly Cassidy was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others – Patrick McKenzie, 25, Renato Pascoal, 28, and Thies – sustained injuries and were transported to hospitals. Thies, in critical condition, was airlifted by Life Flight for treatment.

The nature of the relationship among the five individuals involved in the shooting remains unclear. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

Sheriff Brian Pixley of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to various law enforcement agencies for their support and cooperation in the investigation, emphasizing the importance of examining all available evidence and witness statements to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
