Deputies: Kissimmee Man Shot Woman, Teen Before Killing Himself

Investigators said the case appears domestic-related and involved a mother, her son and a Kissimmee man.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Osceola County deputies are investigating a deadly triple shooting near Kissimmee after a woman and her teenage son were wounded and the suspected shooter was found dead Monday evening.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting was reported around 5:19 p.m. in the 2800 block of Sheffield Circle. Deputies said 33-year-old Garshard Shaquille Alexander Strong of Kissimmee died at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A 38-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and her 18-year-old son was hospitalized in serious condition, according to investigators. Deputies said detectives believe Strong shot both victims before shooting himself. The sheriff’s office said the case appears to be domestic-related, though officials had not confirmed the exact relationship between Strong and the woman.

The shooting brought deputies and emergency crews to Saratoga Resort Villas Apartments on Sheffield Circle. Neighbor Kassondra Buchanan said she ran outside after her young son alerted her to someone injured near their home. Buchanan said two teens were asking for help. One had been shot in the stomach, and the woman had also been shot. “I was in full-on panic,” Buchanan said, describing the moments before first responders arrived.

Family members identified the woman as Vicky Pinkley and said the wounded 18-year-old was named Mario. They said both were taken into surgery after the shooting. Deputies had not released the victims’ names Tuesday morning, and no update was available on what happened immediately before the gunfire.

Investigators said they were continuing to collect statements and review evidence from the scene. Because Strong died, the case is not expected to move forward as a criminal prosecution against him, but detectives still must complete the shooting investigation and final reports.

As of Tuesday, deputies said the woman remained in critical condition and her son remained in serious condition. The sheriff’s office said the investigation was ongoing.
