Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash Claims Lives of Three in Midland, North Carolina

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on North Carolina 24/27 in Midland Wednesday morning resulted in three fatalities and left four others injured, according to Cabarrus County deputies.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. when a van with five people inside swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with two other cars at the intersection of Bethel School Road and North Carolina 24/27. Multiple 911 calls described the serious accident, prompting the dispatch of heavy rescue crews to the scene. One person was reported as being pinned inside a vehicle, and at least one person was airlifted to the hospital.

Those killed in the crash were identified as Nicolae Ghorghe, 49, his wife, and their 12-year-old son. The driver of the van was flown to the hospital by helicopter, and another passenger was transported by ambulance. The names of the individuals involved in the crash have not been released as of yet.
