Crash Tragedy in Gaston County: 19-Year-Old Charged with Multiple Crimes After Fatal Collision Involving Uber Driver

GASTONIA, N.C. — A 19-year-old faces serious charges following a tragic multi-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of an Uber driver. The incident occurred in Gaston County on the evening of November 9, when Lincoln Chase Wilson allegedly collided with another vehicle, triggering a chain reaction that led to multiple crashes.

According to authorities, Wilson was reportedly speeding on Gaston Day School Road when he lost control of his car, veering into oncoming traffic and striking another car head-on. The driver of that vehicle, identified as 53-year-old Janice Lopez, was killed in the crash. At the time of the incident, Lopez was working as an Uber driver.

Another passenger in Lopez’s car suffered significant injuries but has since been released from the hospital. The collision also involved two additional vehicles, resulting in serious injuries to both drivers of those cars as well.

After an investigation, Wilson was arrested on November 26 and charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree murder, felony serious injury by vehicle, and driving while impaired. He also faces charges for reckless driving and several violations of vehicle operation regulations, such as failing to maintain lane control and driving left of center.

Following his arrest, Wilson was held without bond as he awaits further legal proceedings. Authorities are actively seeking additional information from the public to aid in the investigation.
