‘Cocaine Godmother’ Griselda Blanco Pioneered Deadly Murder Method That Came Back to Haunt Her

MIAMI, FL – Griselda Blanco, known as “The Cocaine Godmother”, is often overshadowed by more well-known male drug lords like Pablo Escobar and El Chapo. However, her story is just as action-packed and chaotic as her male counterparts.

Blanco was a major figure in Miami’s underworld during the 1980s, rising to become one of the world’s major bosses in the cocaine industry. Also known as the ‘Black Widow’, she lived a life of crime, violence, and ruthless escapades.

She was responsible for a string of murders and violent revenge attacks, while banking billions of dollars with her illegal enterprise. However, in February 1985, Blanco was arrested by the DEA and charged with conspiracy to manufacture, import, and distribute cocaine. She was eventually sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Upon her release, Blanco was deported back to Colombia in 2004. In 2012, while standing outside a butcher shop in Medellin, she was gunned down by two hitmen on motorbikes using the very murder method she had pioneered – drive-by motorcycle murders.

Professor Bruce Bagley, head of the University of Miami’s department of international studies, described Blanco’s demise as “poetic justice”. He stated, “Here is a woman who made a lot of enemies on her rise and was responsible for the deaths of untold numbers of people. She might have retired to Colombia and wasn’t anything like the kind of player she was in her early days, but she had lingering enemies almost everywhere you look.”

Griselda Blanco’s life was marked by crime, violence, and a ruthless pursuit of power, ultimately leading to her tragic demise in 2012.

Was she a knowledge was she a lady.
