Charges Pending: Multiple People Linked to Matthew Perry’s Death Investigation

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A criminal investigation into the death of actor Matthew Perry is nearing its conclusion, with reports indicating that multiple individuals could face charges in connection to his passing. Law enforcement sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have revealed that federal authorities are looking into the supply of ketamine to Perry before his death, a probe that may lead to charges against several people.

According to reports, the U.S. Attorney’s Office will make the final decision on whether to press charges in the case. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner previously determined that Perry passed away from “acute effects of ketamine” after being found unresponsive at his Pacific Palisades home on October 28, 2023.

In response to the investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Postal Inspector are working to uncover how Perry obtained and consumed large amounts of ketamine prior to his death. The autopsy report indicated that he had trace amounts of the drug in his system, unrelated to recent infusion therapy.

Ketamine, classified as a dissociative anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects, is commonly known as a “club drug” popular among youth. Perry’s death was also attributed to factors such as drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine, a medication used in treating opioid use disorder.

Despite his battle with drug and alcohol addiction, Perry’s loved ones have established the Matthew Perry Foundation to support individuals struggling with addiction. The foundation aims to carry on his commitment to helping others and making a positive impact on those affected by addiction. The investigation into Perry’s death remains ongoing, with law enforcement officials diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the actor’s tragic passing.
