OXFORD, MS – The legal proceedings against Timothy Arrington Jr. have taken a significant turn with the addition of a new charge. Arrington, who was already facing a capital murder charge in connection with the death of University of Mississippi student Jimmy “Jay” Lee, now stands accused of tampering with physical evidence.
This development follows the discovery of Lee’s remains in Carroll County, approximately an hour and a half south of Oxford. The remains were positively identified as Lee’s, prompting a Lafayette County grand jury to re-indict Arrington on the tampering charge.
In court, Arrington maintained his not guilty plea and was denied bond. The Lee family, alongside their supporters, expressed cautious optimism as they continue to seek justice for their son. The family’s long wait, surpassing 900 days, has been marked by the hope of finding answers and closure.
District Attorney Ben Creekmore and Prosecuting Attorney Quinn Glen have refrained from commenting on the recent discovery of Lee’s remains. Arrington’s legal representation has also changed. Kevin Herrington is no longer his attorney; instead, Arrington has been assigned a public defender.
