Corona, California – A tragic incident unfolded in Corona, California, where Eric John Nourani, 32, was charged with murder and other offenses following a chain of events that led to the death of his girlfriend, Jennifer Rose Dobbins. Nourani was arrested after allegedly assaulting a Riverside sheriff’s deputy in an altercation that resulted in Dobbins being fatally shot.
In addition to murder, Nourani faces charges of attempted murder, mayhem, resisting arrest, and obstructing a law enforcement officer resulting in great bodily injury. He is currently held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on a $1 million bail, awaiting his court appearance.
The incident occurred when a deputy encountered a group of individuals on Sixth Street and attempted to investigate them. Nourani allegedly attacked the deputy, leading to a struggle during which Dobbins joined in and began assaulting the deputy. Tragically, Dobbins was struck by gunfire during the altercation.
Despite efforts to save her, Dobbins was pronounced dead upon arrival at a regional trauma center. The deputy sustained moderate injuries that required medical attention, while Nourani was treated for minor injuries before being booked.
The California felony murder rule was invoked in this case, allowing Nourani to be charged with causing Dobbins’ death even though he did not directly inflict the fatal wounds.
