Cellphone Robbery: San Angelo Man Arrested After Assaulting Woman and Stealing Phone

San Angelo, Texas – A San Angelo man is facing charges of robbery after a violent altercation with a woman resulted in the theft of her cellphone. Michael Walkner, 64, was taken into custody on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the incident.

Court documents reveal that on May 1, 2024, authorities were alerted to the situation after the victim reported the attack. The victim, who was residing at a residence on the 3300 block of Adrian Street, recounted how Walkner entered the premises and initiated a confrontation regarding a work-related matter.

The situation quickly escalated, with Walkner forcefully pushing the victim out of her chair, prompting her to seek refuge in the bathroom. Walkner proceeded to break down the bathroom door and physically assault the victim before making off with her cellphone.

Following his arrest, Walkner was found to be in possession of the stolen property, which was recovered at a residence on the 1600 block of Catalina Drive. Subsequent to being read his Miranda rights, Walkner purportedly confessed to the crime during a formal interview with law enforcement.

On May 1, 2024, Walkner was booked into the Tom Green County Jail, where he remains in custody on a $100,000 bond. The nature of the charges against him highlights the severity of the incident and the potential consequences he may face as the legal process unfolds.
