Burglary suspect nabbed in Sunset Park home invasion, second perpetrator still sought

Police in Brooklyn, New York have apprehended one suspect involved in a violent home invasion that took place on February 2, 2024. The incident left one man Tasered and another man shot multiple times. However, authorities are still on the lookout for a second perpetrator in connection with the robbery that occurred on the 700 block of 52nd Street in Sunset Park.

According to law enforcement sources, the two suspects entered the home and confronted two men, ages 41 and 53. They brandished weapons and demanded money from the victims. Within moments, one of the suspects, identified as Chaoxin Tan, 21, from Quincy, MA, used a Taser on the 53-year-old man, while the other suspect fired his gun at the 41-year-old man, hitting him multiple times in the shoulder and leg.

After attacking the victims, Tan and the other suspect stole over $4,100 in cash before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. Both victims were rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and were reported to be in stable condition.

Following an initial investigation, Tan was apprehended on the morning of February 2 and charged with attempted murder, three counts of robbery and assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Meanwhile, the search continues for Tan’s alleged accomplice, described as a man with a light complexion who was wearing a black bubble coat, black pants, and dark-colored sneakers.
